A lot of fighters always stay too late in the game, I believe money is the reason they continue. Bolt made enough money, image was squeaky clean, and his name goes down in the books for eternity, he had the perfect career.

(former) security professional here. You better learn the Gi, because people wear CLOTHES. I wear clothes, you were clothes. Bodyguards wear SUITS these are analogous to a GI. Soldiers wear a uniform, this is analogous to a GI. Most people don't walk around planet earth in tighty shorts, slicked-up with olive oil.

He is 100% correct. Gi and No-Gi are 2 totally different worlds. I started out in Judo, when i was 10 years old (1991). And i didn't start doing BJJ until I was about 21 years old (2002). And i had been training for about 3 and a half years in BJJ, and had just gotten my blue belt, when we started having No-Gi classes, and it was almost like being beginner all over again! But i was hooked on it tho. I still trained and competed in the gi for awhile, but i was spending more and more time training No-Gi, and competing No-Gi whenever i could. After i got my purple belt i had completely stopped training and competing in the gi and was exclusively doing No-Gi only. I definitely think there is value in training BJJ in the gi, but if you are training for MMA then it just doesn't make any sense because you cant wear a gi in MMA competition.

From a purely sports perspective, I prefer to fight in a Keikogi. I find it more plastic and more fun. When it comes to personal defence skills, nogi is unarguably better.

No gi is fine in Vegas or LA. Gi is good to learn in places like Chicago or DC. It really would depend on the environment you live in. In places like Chicago or NYC ideally you would learn both. Winter time everyone is wearing something because of the cold and snow. And in summer of course people are wearing minimal. Defense is primarily based on your surroundings and environment. So you should train in what ways it would pertain to obtain that objective. Basically saying use your head and calling out Dana's bullshit.

That's not true , i urge anyone here to watch the seagal visit jessy did on his channel. You get a whole different insight of aikido. Seagal was actually very impressive in that visit. No ego and explained that it was based on the same techniques as a last resort . As samurai used swords to fight.. They didn't use grappling, or mma, wushu ectra in the battle either. They needed to have a self defense that correlated with their sword skills! Aikido is nothing more than that. Worst case they lose their sword in battle and can use similar technical skill to defend themselves (as an absolute last resort forced) in case there was absolutely no other choice. It's very unfortunate that seagal ego kind of turned people into hating the sport as whole too. You don't see guys do flying karate kicks either or katas in fighting. Doesn't mean its senseless...it had a purpose.

The real reason is he was already declining either because of just natural physical decline, injuries stacking up, or not training like in his prime due to lack of motivation. But that fact is when Bolt returned from injury in 2015 he was never dominant again. Gatlin had gone undefeated in 2014. In 2015 Gatlin ran 9.7 5 times that year which is faster than Bolt ran that year. Bolt got slightly lucky in the 2015 world final. In 2016 Bolt again was running 9.8 and multiple other guys had a real chance to beat Bolt that Olympics but Bolt again just was able to clutch it out in the Olympic final. In 2017 Bolt lost multiple times. He was no longer able to destroy everybody like he could at his peak. Bolt didn't want to compete as just a guy that could potentially win when his legacy was he could not be stopped by anybody in the 100 or 200 and he would lead Jamaica to victory in the 4x100. Bolt knew he couldn't do that anymore so he retired to protect his mostly perfect legacy on the track.
